Woven blue boards and backstrip with dark blue lettering on the backstrip. Full-color illustrations on the facing page of text. Book is clean & very tight. The boards have a little bit of wear & edgewear with lightly bumped corners. The backstrip has a little bit of edgewear. The "This Book Belongs to" section on the inside front cover has not been used. The endpapers have a little bit of light foxing & glue show through at the hinge. The leaves are in very good condition with no markings. The last page has a bumped top corner. The dustjacket has some edgewear & light soiling. The top & bottom edge each have one short closed tear - 1/4" top & 1/8" bottom. The front flap has two clipped corners. The inside of the dustjacket has a little light foxing. Ships within 24 hours. Dust jacket has an inch missing at the top of the spine, has some edge tears one has been taped from the inside. A faint stain on the back , maybe were a glass may have been set, moisture ring very pale. . Price on the dust jacket is .75 on the bottom right hand corner. Two other titles listed on the back inside flap Alexander The Gander and Pumpkin Moonshine.

The much less frequently seen paper boards 1st edition. Some light shelf rub to paper at tips and spine ends. Stress to the paper inside the exterior hinge of the front board with partial split to the paper but with no loss. We have added some minimal archival japanese kozo paper to trinforce the front hinge. Binding remains sound. Contents bright and neat with no marks. Charming Tudor title remains well preserved save for the tenderness and stress to the paper in the front hinge. G+.

This is the fifth edition (1953) of a scarce little book first written and illustrated in 1940 by the late Tasha Tudor. The dust jacket is price clipped on the bottom corner and has a very small chip out of the front bottom edge. This book is about Sylvie Ann and her brother Tom entering in the fair Alexander the Gander, some strawberry jam, and Buttercup the calf. Two other books about Sylvie Ann are listed for sale on the rear flap of the dust jacket at $.75 each, which is probably the price that is clipped off this book. No names, writing, or marks in the book or on the dust jacket. Dust jacket and book are in Very Good condition. Very scarce in this condition. ; 4 in. x 4 3/4 in.
