This is the view of Ayn Rand and the Objectivists, a view so radically opposed to prevailing attitudes that it constitutes a major philosophic revolution. In a series of essays the Objectivists present their stand on the persecution of big business, the causes of war, the student rebellion, the evils of altruism. Here is a challenging new look at modern society, by one of the most provocative intellectuals on the American scene.' [Quote from back wrapper] ***'Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal is a collection of essays, mostly by the philosopher Ayn Rand, with additional essays by her associates Nathaniel Branden, Alan Greenspan, and Robert Hessen. The authors focus on the moral nature of laissez-faire capitalism and private property.' [Wiki] ***First impression of the first US paperback edition, with additional content. Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -This book discusses the concepts in Ayn Rand's 'Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal'. Ayn Rand's 1962 text 'Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal' is important in the fields of philosophy and economics, it introduces the readers, or reminds the readers, what the true essence of capitalism is and not that, which has been misunderstood and construed with economic and political misconceptions. For Rand, and others, who follow the ideals of libertarianism and objectivism, capitalism is the only system, which allows for the freedom of man's rational nature and its ruling principle is justice. True capitalism is actually a social system based on the principle of individual rights and is not to be confused with the capitalist constructions developed during the industrial ages, which saw the development of 'wage slaves' to the owners of the factories. Instead, capitalism is based on man's trade through free exchange and mutual benefit. 72 pp. Englisch.

First printing. A handsome copy, bound in finely woven green cloth spine stamped brightly in silver and black cloth boards.Stated "First Printing." Very clean and tight throughout, virtually unread. In the original dust jacket with the front and rear flaps glued to the paste-downs. With the price of $6.50 at the top of the inside front flap. The jacket is rubbed, chipped, and lightly worn; with a fingernail-sized piece missing at the bottom left-hand corner of the front panel. This copy has been inscribed by Rand on the front endpaper: "To David Crispin Grief--Cordially-- 1/24/67 Ayn Rand." Rand applies her philosophy of Objectivism to the subject of politics. When Rand talks of capitalism, she means laissez-faire capitalism, in which there is a complete separation of state and economics "in the same way and for the same reasons as the separation of church and state." Rand says, "Objectivists are not 'conservatives'. We are radicals for capitalism; we are fighting for that philosophical base which capitalism did not have and without which it was doomed to perish." Rand says that most people do not know what capitalism is, which is why it is "the unknown ideal." (Wikipedia) Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal is a collection of essays, mostly by Ayn Rand, with additional essays by her associates Nathaniel Branden, Alan Greenspan, and Robert Hessen. The authors focus on the moral nature of laissez-fairecapitalism and private property. They have a very specific definition of capitalism, a system they regard as broader than simply property rights or free enterprise. It was originally published in 1966. Rand intended Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal to focus on the moral nature of capitalism, as opposed to focusing on its economic aspects. She contrasts this with what she says is the failure of most other defenders of capitalism to provide a moral defense of that system. After an introduction by Rand, the book is divided into two main sections. The first section, "Theory and History", contains essays that focus on the theoretical basis for capitalism and historical arguments related to it. This section includes essays arguing against common objections to capitalism. The second section, "Current State", focuses on contemporary political issues from the 1960s. The topics covered in this section include the Vietnam War, student protests, and the papal encyclical Populorum progressio. An "Appendix" section reprints two essays on political theory previously published in Rand's earlier book, The Virtue of Selfishness. A recommended reading list about capitalism is also provided.
