Soft cover. Condición: Good / Very Good. Adams Illustrated Cover. Ilustrador. First Edition By This Publisher. 219 pages. "Short, thick-bodied, mulishly stubborn, and indifferent to physical pain, Dashiell Hammett's Continental Op was the prototype for generations of tough-guy detectives. He is also the hero of most of the nine stories in this volume. The Op's one enthusiasm is doing his job, and in The Big Knockover the jobs entail taking on a gang of modern-day freebooters, a vice-ridden hell's acre in the Arizona desert, and the bank job to end all bank jobs, along with such assorted grifters as Babe McCloor, Bluepoint Vance, Alphabet Shorty McCoy, and the Dis-and-Dat Kid." C Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" Tall. Book.

First edition thus. Original black cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in the Hoot Von Zitzewitz designed dustwrapper. A lovely very near copy, the binding square and firm, the contents with a small area of offsetting to the front and rear endpaper are otherwise clean throughout and without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the bright, lightly rubbed and nicked dustwrapper which remains without loss. A lovely example. This volume collects The Gutting of Couffignal; Fly Paper; The Scorched Face; This King Business; The Gatewood Caper; Dead Yellow Women; Corkscrew; The Big Knockover; $106,000 Blood Money; and the unfinished "Tulip".
