Faint toning to spine with some offsetting to title page and a few faint handling marks to edges. Slipcase has some toning at white cloth and rubbing at the edges. Limited edition of which this is 1192 and signed by Shore at the colophon. Nice copy. [AL2b]. Signed by Illustrator(s).

Condición: Near Fine. No Jacket. 1st Thus. Signed by Ilustrator Slip-Case - Hard Cover. This Limited Editions Club classic contains two short novels by the great Herman Melville, author of Moby Dick. The book is in Fine condition but there are couple of tiny, virtually invisible spots of soiling on the spine. as is the slipcase. The slipcase has dusting to the bottom panel. Its spine is sunned and it shows light wear in the form of small scratches or spots. there are very few of them. There were only 1500 copies of this book produced of which this is number 902. It is signed by the Illustrator. The volume was printed by A. Colish in 1965 at Mount Vernon, New York. The volume is illustrated by Robert Shore and he has signed the colophon in the rear of the book. The book has an extensive introduction by Maxwell Geismar which is not only informative, it is a joy to read. The Limited Editions Club was founded in 1929. It was the creation of George Macy. Its purpose was to create very high quality versions of the classics that were also illustrated by the finest contemporary artists. All Limited Edition Club books are hand signed by the illustrators with a short description of the making of the book on the colophon in the rear of the volume. Only a few were published without a signature because the illustrator had passed away before publication. All LEC books come with a fine decorative slipcase and the great majority of them contain original fine art within.They are finely constructed books printed by the best printers and on fine paper.They are highly collectible.
