Hardcover/gebunden. Condición: gut. Lizenzausgabe. (Wikipedia) In deutscher Sprache. Ohne Seitenzählung [48] pages. 8° (130 x 211mm).

Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Near Fine. McCully, Emily Arnold Ilustrador. First Edition First Printing. A "joyfully inventive poem" that the late poet wrote for her own children, brought to life for new generations with the charming illustrations of Emily Arnold McNully. Unpaginated. A FIRST EDITION, First Printing, from 1976, this hardcover book has pictorial boards with a design that matches the accompanying DJ. Because it is an EX-LIB copy, with usual stamps & markings in front matter, one stamp to bottom outside page edges, it is downgraded to VG. Very clean, with the occasional light smudge from handling. Binding strong & straight, pages white & unmarked, colors bright. Because it has been protected under clear library mylar (which shows some rubbing), the price-clipped DJ is Near Fine: bright & colorful with NO fadingY just the slightest edgewear (teeny chip, 1/8" tear). Old library call number carefully removed from spine: looks lovely! Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same day shipping on all orders received by 2 pm weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, weekends & holidays ship next very business day.

First US edition. 40pp. Original publisher's illustrated cloth boards, with the corresponding clipped dustwrapper illustrated by Emily Arnold McCully, along with full colour illustrations throughout. Bumping to corners, foot of spine, and a little shelf-wear to both boards and wrapper, with slight smoke damage to the lower board and rear wrapper panel. Internally bright and clean. From the estate of Olwyn Hughes, recently dispersed; while much of her library was seriously damaged as the result of an errant cigarette dropped by Olwyn down the back of her settee - causing a serious fire - this copy has escaped comparatively unscathed. Sylvia Plath's (1932-1963) first children's book, published posthumously by Ted Hughes. from one of Plath's longer children's poems. Olwyn Hughes (1928-2016) was a translator, agent and literary executor who had worked in Paris for NATO, Martonplay, and King Peter II of Yugoslavia, among others. After the death of her sister-in-law Sylvia Plath, she returned to England to assist her brother, Ted Hughes, raise his young children, though also took over the management of both his career and Plath's literary estate. While she did have some other clients as a literary agent, including Jean Rhys, much of the rest of her life was dedicated to preserving - and defending - both Plath and Hughes. Size: Quarto.
