Hardcover. Condición: Good. First Edition. The Nazis put a remarkable amount of effort into anti-Semitic propaganda, intending to bring ordinary Germans around to the destructive ideology of the Nazi party. Julius Streicher (1885-1946) spearheaded many of these efforts, publishing anti-Semitic articles and cartoons in his weekly newspaper, Der Strmer, the most widely read paper in the Third Reich. Streicher won the close personal friendship of Hitler and Himmler, and drew deserved attacks from the world press. Bytwerk's biography examines Streicher's use of propaganda techniques, and the hate literature towards Jews that continued to appear after his death, bearing his influence.

"The Man Who Persuaded A Nation To Hate Jews". biography. world war ii. nazi germany. third reich. ~ Although much has been written about the Holocaust itself, surprisingly little has been written, until now, about the techniques through which a civilized nation was persuaded to kill 6,000,000 Jews. The Nazis put an astonishing amount of energy into spreading antisemitism, and a great deal of that energy came from Julius Streicher. His weekly newspaper, Der Sturmer, devoted entirely to arousing hatred against the Jews, was the most widely read newspaper in Germany during the Hitler era. The paper's crude, vivid anti~Semitic cartoons, photographs, and articles are the quintessential examples of antisemitic propaganda. Streicher was awarded by the world press such titles as "the biggest bigot in the world" and "the high priest of stupidity," titles that pleased him. Yet as surely as Julius Streicher 's efforts helped build the Third Reich, his poison did not disappear with the fall of Hitler's empire and Streicher's execution in 1946 by the Nuremberg Tribunal. The ideas that were peddled by this most notorious of Nazi antisemites are still with us today. Hate propaganda from all over the world, including the United States, is as revolting as anything that ever came from Steicher's presses. To assume that we are immune to the sort of ideas Streicher spread is comforting. It is also false.
