Dr. Tullis was Physician in Chief and Chairman, Department of Medicine at New England Deaconess Hospital, and Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Harvard Medical School, in addition to other assignments. Dr. Chao, who contributed chapters 2 (Normal Platelets) and 7 (Calcium Metabolism in Clotting and Hemostasis), was Adjunct Professor of Biology at Boston University, and also associated with the New England Deaconess. For Section I - The Physiology and Biochemistry of Normal Clottiing and Hemostasis - The chapter headings are Historical Background; Normal Platelets; Vascular and Humoral Factors in Hemostasis; Chemical Properties and Interactions of Purified Clotting Components; and Clinical Implications of Normal Clotting and Hemostasis. For Section II - Defects of Clotting and Hemostasis - the are: Abnormalities of the Cellular, Humoral and Vascular Factors of Hemostasis; Calcium Metabolism in Clotting and Hemostasis; First and Second Stage Clotting Defects; and Third Stage Clotting Defects.
