This is the fascinating story of the legendary comic, Stan Laurel, from his childhood through his early years in entertainment, before he teamed up with Oliver Hardy to become half of the most famous comedy team of the first half of the 20th century. Profusely illustrated with photos and facsimiles of Laurel's letters with family and early friends. This copy is fine in purple boards with gilt titles on the spine and Laurel's facsimile signature in gilt on the front cover. No marks or damage at all. The unclipped DJ is also excellent. It is inscribed on the half title page "Allen Jordan, Laurel and Hardy Museum, Ulverston". Jordan was apparently a curator at the museum.
