(Hardcover, 1969). (1964) 1969 de luxe edition. 8vo (148 x 240mm). Pp368. Colour plates of fish and b/w line illustrations by Eric Tenney, illustrated end-papers. Green leather-effect cloth, gilt carp motif to upper board, spine titled in gilt with "Odhams" printed at base. Cloth stained and used. Good only, lacks dust-wrapper. A species-by-species description of angling methods in sea and freshwater, with good colour paintings of fish species. Contributions from Harry Brotherton, Derek Fletcher, Clive Gammon, F.W. Holiday, William Howes, S. Norton-Bracy, Raymond Perrett and Harvey Torbett. This edition, published in 1969, is called by the publisher the de luxe edition. It is, however, difficult to see in what way it would be considered de luxe. It appears to have been issued simultaneously with an edition by Andre Deutsch. The Deutsch edition carried a misprint on the title-page. It has been corrected in this Hamlyn edition. .

VG in VG DJ. In China jade was being carved as far back as Neolithic times, even before the discovery of metals. To carve and shape such a hard material using only bone or bamboo with an abrasive demanded extraordinary patience and the Chinese regarded it as more precioius than gold. Objects made were often symbolic since jade was thought to have magical properties and shapes represent deities. Illustrated by Color photos.
