Hardcover. Condición: Very good. Hardcover. Octavo. 339pp. Incl. index. Later printing. This, Bergson's second book, first appeared in 1896. Bergson argues that memory is deeply spiritual rather than of a material nature. This copy from the library of Artie Shaw, with his ownership signature on front paste-down. Dark red cloth has light rubbing to spine ends, with dent along fore-edge of cover. Evidence of water damage on rear cover, effecting the corner of the endpaper. Artie Shaw was an American clarinetist and popular bandleader of the 1930s and '40s. " Apart from his interest in music, Shaw had a tremendous intellect and almost insatiable thirst for intellectual knowledge and literature."- wikipedia.
