Soft Cover Full Gloss. Condición: Near Fine. No Jacket. Dennis Punnett Ilustrador. ### The NEW Observer's Book of Aircraft - 1989/90 ### THIS BOOK: The new style larger format book, softcover and hardcover, this is a softcover, it has been used but not abused, cover is clean as is the inside, the content is upto date with the books year of publication, each entry has 3 silhouettes in different view plus a photo, each aircraft has 2 pages dedicated to giving the reader all the facts and figures. ~#~ ~#~ The Observer's Books were a series of small, pocket-sized books, published by Frederick Warne & Co in the United Kingdom from 1937 to 2003. They covered a variety of topics, including hobbies, art, history and wildlife. These books aimed to interest the observers, and they have also been popular amongst children. Some of them have become collector's items. For the dedicated collector, this could be a lifetime's work as there are over 800 variations, some of which are now rare. The values of the books can vary from 50 pence to hundreds of pounds. Until 1969, books printed had dust covers. Each one had a unique pattern of squiggly lines at the top, but these were not very especially practical because they were easy to rip and stain. From 1970, the covers received a glossy coating. Books of this type are generally called "Glossies". From the late 1970s, Warne decided to laminate the books cover to the actual books to make them sturdier and more resistant to wear. The first Observer's guide was published in 1937 and was on the subject of British birds. A mint copy with a dust cover is worth hundreds of pounds: also a British wild-flowers book was produced. A mint copy of this book is worth around £220. When the popularity of these was recognized, more titles produced. 'uniform in the series', but during World War II production was limited due to paper and labour shortages. Even so, by 1941 Warne had published the first six Observer's books. ~#~ ## INTERNATIONAL BUYERS? Hardcover. Condición: Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. Reprint. In this book you will find a complete range of classic fashion garments for all ages from babies to adults, both men and women. The patterns, which are all based on Beatrix Potter's own watercolours, include a beautiful christening robe, pramsuits, cosy outfits for toddlers, practical and pretty sweaters and tops for active children, elegant fashion garments for women, and chunky knits for men. Some have motifs based on the well-loved characters, other have specially created jacquard and textured designs inspired by Beatrix Potter's flower and landscape paintings. Several garments are made from the wool of Herwick sheep, the hardy upland breed which Beatrix Potter herself bred on her Lake District farms. Charts, diagrams, details form the patterns and international concersion tables added to the clarity of the instructions make this beautifully laid-out book straightforward to follow for even the inexperienced knitter, while the expert will find plenty of challenge in the intricacy of some of the designs. Illustrated. Illustrated laminated boards. Top corners of board very slightly bumped. Very slight shelf wear to top edge of D/J.
