Hardcover. Condición: New. 1st Edition. Reprint. Bumps to lower board corners. Signed by Høyland. Quarter bound boards with photographically illustrated cover. No dust jacket, as issued. Photographs by Elin Høyland. Introduction by Gerry Badger. Large 4to (31cm x 23cm), pp.96, 47 duotone photographs. From the publisher: "When Elin Høyland heard about two elderly brothers, Harald and Mathias Ramen, living together in Tessanden, a small hamlet in rural Norway, she approached them to see if they would collaborate with her on a photographic project about their lives. The result is a fascinating and warmly human study of a way of life that has now almost entirely disappeared. Harald (75) and Mathias (80) had always lived on the small farm in which they were born. Neither had married. Mathias once worked in Oslo for two months, but hadn t like it, whilst Harald spent one night, 'the worst of his life,' he would say, in a hotel in Lillehammer, some three hours away. They d worked for an electricity company, as loggers and also as carpenters, but now much of their time was taken up just managing firewood for their home. As Harald said, they chopped wood, carried wood and burned wood. At least twice a day, they also fed wild birds in the twenty bird boxes that they monitored. Their days followed a predictable and comforting routine. In their free time they each listened to a radio or read the local paper. In the 1960s they rented a TV for a one month trial but returned it after deciding that it took up too much time. Little changed from year to year, though Mathias once said that changes were happening the whole time and it would probably end up with them getting an inside toilet with running water. Harald died from an asthma attack while shovelling snow in conditions of 20C. Mathias continued to live alone in the house until he moved into an old people s home. He died in 2007.". Pictorial Boards. Condición: As New. First Edition. np (52pp), 34 color illustrations. This is John Darwell's compact photo-essay documenting the Chernobyl Nuclear Reactors' "Zones of Exclusion": the permanently evacuated area surrounding the 1986 Russian Nuclear Power Plant disaster. It provides a haunting and eerily beautiful glimpse of the thirty kilometer wasteland where no man can now go - and is the perfect compliment to Robert Polidori's oversized volume on the same subject. A brand new, pristine example. Photography Monograph.

Padded Pictorial Boards. Condición: As New. First Edition. np (120pp), 48 color illustrations. Designed by Dewi Lewis Publishing. "For the last few years, when Martin Parr has traveled on assignment he has had his picture taken by a local studio photographer, or street photographer, or in a photo booth. The result is a wonderfully varied portfolio of portraits ranging from elaborate studio sets reminiscent of the heyday of the Victorian studio photographer, through to digitally manipulated images of Parr as Mr. Universe, and images which have been horrendously re-touched in the studio's efforts to flatter Parr and make him appear twenty years younger. As with all Parr's projects the book is not only hilarious but also raises broader issues of identity and self, questioning the whole notion of the photographic portrait". What can we say? - More Martin than you can shake a stick at! A pristine example (cited on page 249 of Fred Ritchin and Carole Naggar's "Magnum Photobook: A Catalogue Raisonné") additionally SIGNED AND DATED "Martin Parr 2002" in black ink on the title page. Signed and Dated by the Photographer. Photography Monograph.
