His son founded Goodwin's Weekly, another anti-Mormon paper, which was controlled entirely by C. C. Goodwin. A collection of 75 biographies, by C. C. Goodwin, including sketches of Mark Twain, Joaquin Miller, General John A. Sutter, Clarence King et al. Graff 1587; Eborn. Comprehensive Bibliography of Mormon Literature, p. 163; Flake (Supplement) 3618 contemporary three-quarter black pig skin, spine stamped in gilt and blind, in six compartments, purple cloth, marbled paper endpapers, top edge gilt.Owner's small ink rubberstamp on front flyleaf, and contemporary, neat ink name on second front flyleaf (dated 1914). Moderate, even fading on spine, few short closed tears to front inner hinge (else tight and sound), frontispiece tissue-guard has two-inch tear (at inner margin), else a very good, bright copy, with the text fresh and clean.

Two octavo (4-3/4" x 7-3/4") volumes bound in one in early paneled calf leather with a gilt-lettered morocco spine label; [xxiv], 312; viii, iv, 138; [10] pages. The second volume has a frontispiece illustration of a battle. First title translated into English by J. Mitchell; the second translation not credited. Both of these titles by the French clergyman and historian first appeared in the last decade of the 17th century. Many lousy copies of these titles are available online, but few in the Near Fine condition of this volume. Contents clean and crisp, interesting old bookplate pasted over another interesting bookplate on the front pastedown; binding lovely with the spine darkened and minor wear along the joints, covers tight.
