[minor shelfwear to bottom edge, technically ex-library but unmarked except for bookplate on front pastedown (see notes); jacket shows a little wear along bottom edge and right-hand edge of front panel]. (Cinema One, no. 12) Series (B&W photographs) One of the more interesting and influential works in the excellent "Cinema One" series, with insightful readings of the genre work of three directors whose films continue to command attention from cineastes. Includes filmographies. Also issued in paperback; the hardcover printing is fairly uncommon. [NOTE that the bookplate on the front pastedown identifies the book as having been part of the Arthur Knight Collection at the University of Southern California Library, and also bears a "USC DISCARD" stamp; there are no other library markings, internally or externally.].

Condición: good, fair. Reprint Edition. First Thus Printing. 22 cm, 384, illus., map, footnotes, DJ worn, soiled, and edge tears, pencil erasure on front endpaper. A reprint of what is possibly the first novel written in America, this is a rousing yarn in the Robinson Crusoe tradition of a British sailor shipwrecked on the Caribbean coast of Central America. The author's comments on the character of an escaped Negro slave are one of the earliest critiques in America on the evils of slavery. Based on the author's manuscript which was first published in 1815 in a restyled version under the title: The Journal of Llewellin Penrose, a Seaman.

Hardcover. Condición: Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good- dj. First American Edition. [no discernible wear to book, previous owner's signature and small bookseller's rubber-stamped name on front endpaper; jacket is edgeworn, with a few tiny nicks and miscellaneous minor creasing here and there]. (Cinema One) Series (B&W photographs) Basic but still valuable survey of the great Keaton's silent film career; includes a filmography which, like the text, documents his silent films only. The previous owner's signature is that of noted film historian Rudy Behlmer. Like many "Cinema One" titles, this is much less common in the hardcover issue.
