[Thriller] SIXTIETH ANNIVERSARY LIMITED EDITION by Bentley Motors. BIBLIOGRAPHER'S COPY. No.386 of 500 copies, with a new introduction from racing legend Sir Stirling Moss. Octavo, hardcovers, all edges silver, housed in a deluxe leather clamshell with scarlet-coloured inner trays. With brush style illustrations by award-winning artist Damian Gascoigne. This Special Edition of Casino Royale is produced using only the finest materials. The case and cover are bound in the same beluga leather used by Bentley for their luxury interiors. It features the iconic double stitching and signature winged Bentley logo. The trademark knurling adorns the book's metal spine, inspired by the cars' famous steel tread plate. A limitation marque with Ian Fleming's signature, reflects the plate you would find on a Bentley engine. Removing the book from the tray reveals a hidden compartment containing two packs of bespoke Bentley-branded playing cards, housed in leather-bound wallets. As new, with paper sleeve fastened by limitation label, within a supporting foam frame, and set in it's own card box printed with stitching motif, with further title labels applied. This is exactly how it was despatched by the publisher; most copies now lack some or all of the original packaging and labels. This is Fleming bibliographer Jon Gilbert's copy, with a signed loose note to this effect placed within the box. The stiking red/black colouring is a nod to the gambling plot of the novel, where Bond attempts to bankrupt Le Chiffre, the paymaster for the Russian secret service. The Bentley is James Bond's car of choice in the original novels and Ian Fleming was a great admirer of the 'Bentley Boys', seduced by their adventures on the racing track, in particular their victories at Le Mans from 1927-30. Fleming was a close friend of engineer Amherst Villiers who designed the famous supercharger for the 'Blower' Bentley. This iconic edition aims to capture that spirit of adventure and the glamour associated with these leading British brands.

[James Bond thriller] FIRST EDITION. LIMITED EDITION, Large Paper copies, number 102 of 300. With a note to this edition, a foreword by the chief designer of Bentley Motors, and a brief biography of Ian Fleming. Superbly bound in full dark brown leather, with hand-stitching to covers, with red leather doublures and limited edition plate, all edges coloured red. The leather used for the boards is the same as is used for the upholstery in Bentley cars, and the red leather inside is the same as the hide used on the dashboard. Each book comes with a pewter cast model car, the same as Bond drives in the novel. The car is housed in a die-cut section of the pages to the lower margin, and the whole book is housed in a custom made perspex slipcase. A superb book production, limited to just 300 copies worldwide Wrapped in original greaseproof paper, set within a foam-lined outer card carton with Bentley Motors label applied. The book and perspex case are absolutely fine and unopened (a previous stock photo has been used). Minor wear to carton, foam lining sheet has toned over time (as all do). An original 007 adventure, written under copyright of Glidrose (Ian Fleming) Publications Ltd to celebrate the author's centenary. See Gilbert-Schøyen [384].
