From the flap of the dust jacket, I quote: Frederic Schiller Cozzens was one of the most successful and well-known of the artists who illustrated newspaper reports of contemporary yachting and boating events. His quick eye, trained hand, and technical knowledge produced works that portray the tension and excitement of the regattas and naval maneuvers that cameras were not yet able to capture. Cozzens also developed a reputation as a fine artist apart from his more commercial ventures. He was commissioned by many of New York s finest yachtsmen to execute portraits of their ships. And while I love these paintings of old ships and books about them, I really can t start another addition to my collection, so I am pleased to offer: Frederic Cozzens Marine Painter, by Anita Jacobsen. This rather large and heavy hard cover book (10 ½ x 12 inches, 252 pages) was published by Alpine Fine Arts Collection Ltd of New York and London, dated 1982. The book is bound in dark blue cloth covers with white titles on the spine; it is protected by a once glossy and sturdy (edge folded), pictorial dust jacket. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The glossy finish of the dust jacket is rather scuffed and there is a mark where a sticky label was peeled off (please be sure to see the photos). The covers themselves are clean and the titles bright, with just a faint 1/8-inch line of sun-fade along the edges (you have to look close to see it). The leading edge of the pages has some light specks of brown, either incipient foxing or smoke stains (although there is no odor of smoke with the book). Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages and plates are clean and bright, from cover to cover. Both hinges are fully intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.…
