O'Donnell & Douglas N. Archibald. 560 pages. hardcover. keywords: Ireland Literature Poetry. FROM THE PUBLISHER - Autobiographies consists of six autobiographical works that William Butler Yeats published together in the mid-1930s to form a single, extraordinary memoir of the first fifty-eight years of his life, from his earliest memories of childhood to winning the Nobel Prize for Literature. This volume provides a vivid series of personal accounts of a wide range of figures, and it describes Yeats's work as poet and playwright, as a founder of Dublin's famed Abbey Theatre, his involvement with Irish nationalism, and his fascination with occultism and visions. This book is most compelling as Yeats's own account of the growth of his poetic imagination. inventory #26325.

Hard Cover. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Near Fine. Limited. According to O'Donnell, "The Speckled Bird" dates to 1903-1907, when Yeats abandoned it as a novel; although he kept the typescript, it was not offered to a publisher. These are Near Fine copies of the First Edition, which is LIMITED to 500 copies. Gray paper-covered boards with a linen spine. Black titling on the front cover; paper label on the spine. Clean text; x, 87 pages; and 99 pages. All pages are unopened. Volume One has a copyright of 1973; volume Two is 1974; nonetheless, issued as a set at the same time. White paper dustwrappers and a gray slipcase with paper label. The slipcase shows some floodmarks and there is some minor rippling of some pages; may have encountered water at some time in its life, but does not really detract from a very nice production of one of the great poet's more obscure works. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
