Dark green cloth boards with gilt lettering on cover and spine. Portrait of a young Theodore Roosevelt is affixed to cover. Minor shelf wear to edges; lettering on spine is faded; spine is slightly cocked; mild soiling. No dust jacket. A few page gutters have started to crack, but binding is still fairly tight. Some foxing to edges of text block and endpapers. Interior is clean except for an occasional stain. Blue pen marks on rear pastedown. Includes 14 black-and-white photos on plates as well as two document reproductions. William Wingate Sewall (1845-1930) was a woodsman and guide from Maine who had a long-lasting friendship with Theodore Roosevelt. This book recounts their friendship with a focus on their time working together on Roosevelt's Elkhorn Ranch in the Dakota Territory.

Hardcover. Condición: Good. 116-page hardcover in light green cloth. Frontis photo of a 25-year old TR in buckskin with hunting rifle. Introduction by Roosevelt biographer Hermann Hagedorn. The author was a woodsman, Maine guide and owner of Hook Point sporting camps in Island Falls, Maine. Sewall and his nephew Wilmot Dow were guides to a young TR on his visits to Maine. This story covers early TR history in Maine but is primarily about the time that Sewall and Dow spent managing TR's Elkhorn Ranch in North Dakota. Black and white photo ills. and copies of letters from TR to Sewall. Light wear and soiling to covers, foxing to title page and endpapers with previous owner's address stamp, else good. No jacket. Ships in a box.
