First Edition. 21 x 30cm near fine paperback with works by Bastiaan Johan Christiaan "Bas Jan" Ader (19 April 1942 disappeared 1975) was a Dutch conceptual and performance artist, and photographer.[His work was in many instances presented as photographs and film of his performances. He made performative installations, including Please Don't Leave Me (1969).Ader was lost at sea in 1975, attempting to cross the Atlantic Ocean from the American coast to England sailing in a thirteen-foot sailboat. His deserted vessel was found off the coast of Ireland on 18 April 1976, offering few clues as to his fate.

Paperback. Condición: new. Paperback. When Bas Jan Ader's boat, Ocean Wave, was found unmanned and partially submerged 150 miles off the coast of Ireland by a Spanish fishing vessel in 1976, it was taken to La Coruna for investigation. Days later, the boat was stolen and the cult of Ader, whose body was never recovered, and who was thought by many to have staged this incident, was truly cemented. In this volume, Marion van Wijk and Koos Dalstra, who spent 10 years investigating this unsolved mystery, reproduce the entire police report in facsimile. They also include many pages of eerie written documentation and transcriptions of interviews they conducted during their decade of intensive sleuthing. The report has 74 pages: it begins on April 27, 1976 and ends on February 1, 1977. It relates the history of the Ocean Wave from the discovery of the vessel to the closure of the case. This book is a reprint of the earlier edition from Veenman Publishers with additional research included. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Artists' book with extensive documentation of van Wijk and Koos Dalstra's investigations into the circumstances of the disappearance of Bas Jan Ader and his boat, the discovery of the boat, The Ocean Wave, by Spanish authorities, and the subsequent theft of the boat.
