These are one of those rare combinations that capture the original yet put you in the feasting hall as you read. The formation of the Round Table first happens here in Wace and are Tolkien like Elves actually called such at Arthur's birth in this Layamon. Great copy here includes both Wace and Layamon! These were Geoffrey of Monmouth's "History: put into the Norman French of the Isle of Jersey and the rough "English" of Layamon. Since 1977 Three Geese In Flight wrapping our Arthurian and Celtic Tolkien inspired books with love and respect.

Wace's work, Roman de Brut, was based on Geoffrey of Monmouth's history and was the first to mention the legend of King Arthur's Round Table. Layamon's Brut is fictionalized version of the history of Britain up to the Early Middle Ages, with a section on the life and exploits of King Arthur. Condition: The book is in strong readable condition, but with a little tanning to the page edges. The dustwrapper is a little creased along the top edge with light rubbing and is now within a protective sleeve.
