Hardcover. Condición: Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Near Fine. Mark Tobey Ilustrador. First Edition. Seattle and London: The Seattle Art Museum and University of Washington Press, (1970). Pp. 110. Decorated endpapers. Photographs of Tobey and Seattle sites germane to his development are also reprinted. Also includes historical background on Tobey's early years, his involvement with Nellie Cornish, and Seattle patrons. Oatmeal buckram with title blindstamped on front cover, gilt lettering on spine. Price-clipped dust jacket with a couple very short (less than half-inch) closed tears and faint surface wear to gilt printing on front of dust jacket. Please see photos. A handsome, well-preserved copy. An exhaustive exhibition catalog featuring prolific reproductions, full color and b&w, of Tobey's paintings and prints. Art history should proclaim Tobey as the harbinger of busy, abstract works that experts compare to Jackson Pollack drip paintings; they were painted three years before Pollack veered in that direction. Dust jacket now protected in a clear, removable archival sleeve.
