Hardcover. Condición: Good. 1929 printing. Scarce. Oversized hardcover - red cloth boards, no jacket. Covers show a few small indentations with front layer of boards gone, possible insect damage but cause unclear. Book is in otherwise good condition, light tanning to cover edges. Gilt titles a bit faded but still legible. Solid binding. Mild yellowing to page edges. Text and plates clean, no marks. Good copy overall.

Walter Shaw Sparrow was a notable Welsh writer on art and architecture with a special interest in British sporting artists. Collated, complete with four plates in colour, and eighty two 'subjects' in black and white. Complete with the scarce original unclipped dustwrapper. This copy was the second volume of the series 'The Sport of Our Fathers'. With an introduction by E. D. Cuming This copy contains a loosely inserted leaflet for the George Stubbs exhibition at the Tate Gallery, 18 October 1984- 6 January 1985. In the publisher's original cloth binding with original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, minor shelfwear to extremities and head and tail of spine. Fading to spine. Dustwrapper chipped and bumped to extremities. Fading to spine of wrap and extremities of boards. Small closed tear to lower extremity of front wrap and upper extremity of rear wrap. Tear and small loss to head of front joint of wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, with light scattered spots to the occasional page. Very Good. book.
