Red leather spine label with gilt stamped lettering and gilt decoration to the compartments. Gilt border to the leather and gilt stamped lettering to the front. All edges gilt. 366+521+375. Illustrated. Acceptable condition. Reading copy. Front boards of Volume II and III detached, with that of Volume I split 3/4 from the foot. The rear boards rubbed. Spines worn, rubbed with fraying tips. Edgeworn with some rubbing to the leather. The endleaves offset. Bookplates to the front pastedown. The front endpages detached. Owner's names to the front endpage. The remainder of the interior nice with only some occasional foxinging. Inquire if you need further information.

Held from May to November, 1876, the Exhibition was credited with over 10 million visitors. This extensively illustrated set displays the magnificence of the Exhibition with the stress on technology and industry. Volume 3 was written by American engineer, John M. Wilson, responsible for the building of the main exhibition building.
