Pictorial endpapers. Stevenson's collection of sixty four poems for children, first appeared under the title, Penny Whistles, in 1885. Numerous later Illustrated editions followed and this version was illustrated by Charles Robinson (1870-1937). A prolific book illustrator, Robinson had first illustrated the title in 1895 in black and white and it was also the first full book he illustrated. Illustrated by black and white drawings and vignettes in text throughout. Stevenson's collection of sixty four poems for children, originally to be titled Penny Whistles, was first published in 1885.
