On retrouve, un siècle plus tard, ce culte de la subjectivité dans le mouvement symboliste. L'oeuvre se dit créée à partir d'un rien, entièrement surgie du Moi. Le romantisme comme le symbolisme prônent un individualisme que l'on pourrait qualifier de pieux. Qu'il aspire au bonheur du coeur ou à l'accomplissement artistique, l'homme doit se détourner du monde et ne plus écouter que lui-même. Tout cela n'est qu'une illusion, un mensonge, nous dit René Girard. L'homme est d'une manière ou d'une autre toujours influencé par la création humaine, par les Autres. Les oeuvres qui nient cette évidence sont inintéressantes, elles ne permettent aucun travail sur soi-même. Ces oeuvres écrites, que Girard rassemble sous le terme de romantique, cachent, en incitant une identification avec un héros individualiste, original et indépendant des autres, la relation aliénante que tout lecteur souffre avec le monde réel. Les grandes oeuvres seront donc celles qui dépassent la circonférence de l'univers romantique, celles qui dévoilent aux lecteurs la dépendance de l'autre, obligeant les hommes les uns envers les autres. Une fois le dépassement accompli, l'oeuvre sera qualifié de romanesque. Il nous faut donc reconsidérer la terminologie littéraire sous ce nouvel angle. Un roman romantique du début du XIXe siècle doit, s'il dévoile l'illusion de l'individualisme et du désir spontané, dès lors être classé dans la catégorie des oeuvres romanesque. Avec cette nouvelle catégorisation Girard propose une réforme terminologique de l'histoire littéraire. Que la critique ait passé outre la constatation d'une différenciation entre le romantique et le romanesque n'étonne pas Girard, il va jusqu'à considérer une opposition entre la création artistique et les idées même du romancier. 40 pp. Französisch.

Eine genaue Datierung der Genese erweist sich jedoch als schwierig, da Rousseau schon in jungen Jahren - während seiner Anstellung als Hauslehrer bei M. de Mably im Jahre 1740 und fünf Jahre später als Sekretär der Dupin, einer reichen Bankiers Familie der hohen Bourgeoisie - den Entschluss fasst Politik- und Erziehungsschriften zu verfassen und über deren Konzepte nachdenkt. So arbeitet ROUSSEAU schon ab dem Jahre 1751, zurückgezogen in Ermitage und später in Montmorency, gleichzeitig am Entwurf der Nouvelle Héloïse, dem Lettre à d'Alembert und an Des Institutions politiques (welche später den Contrat social ergeben werden). Als ROUSSEAU 1757 mit dem Verfassen des Émile beginnt, ist er also mit verschiedenen Projekten beschäftigt, unter anderem mit der Endfassung und Anordnung der Briefe für die Nouvelle Héloïse. Dieses gleichzeitige Arbeiten an verschiedenen Werken, erklärt, wie es möglich war, dass zwei monumentale Romane wie die Nouvelle Héloïse und Émile mit nur einem Jahr Unterschied (1761, 1762) erscheinen konnten.Diese beinahe zeitgleiche Genese der Nouvelle Héloïse und des Émile wirft die Frage auf, ob es, nebst der Arbeitsweise ROUSSEAUS, auch formale und inhaltliche Parallelen gibt. Auf den ersten Blick könnten beide Romane unterschiedlicher nicht sein. Während Émile formal dem klassischen Erziehungsroman entspricht (die wichtigsten Erziehungsschritte sind in aufeinanderfolgende Bücher unterteilt), ist die Nouvelle Héloïse in der Form eines Briefromanes verfasst. Auch die Geschichten beider Romane unterscheiden sich stark voneinander. Im Émile verfolgen wir das geführte Heranwachsen eines Kindes, fernab von der Gesellschaft, zum erwachsenen Mann. Wie der Titel Émile ou de l'éducation es unverkennbar ankündet, ist in diesem Werk ROUSSEAUS die Erziehung Programm. Mit der Nouvelle Héloïse erzählt ROUSSEAU die Geschichte von Julie und St-Preux, zweier Jugendlicher, die sich Hals über Kopf ineinander verliebt haben. Im Zentrum der Nouvelle Héloïse steht also nicht die Erziehung, sondern die Weisheit der Liebenden, welche die Heirat der verwandten Seele jener einer guten Partie vorziehen aber an den Konventionen der Gesellschaft hoffnungslos scheitern. So wurden ROUSSEAUS Romane, La Nouvelle Héloïse und Émile, bei ihrer Veröffentlichung im Jahre 1761 und 1762 von der Kritik gänzlich verschieden aufgenommen. 28 pp. Deutsch.

Um die zentralen Begrifflichkeiten und Problemfelder des Neo-Institutionalismus zu verstehen ist es unabdingbar sich dessen Ursprung vor Augen zu halten. Die Theorie des Institutionalismus findet ihre Wurzeln in der Organisationssoziologie. Der Grundstein hat Emil Durkheim gelegt. In seiner Arbeit Die Regeln der soziologischen Methode werden die Institutionen als Glaubensvorstellungen und durch die Gesellschaft festgesetzte [ ] Verhaltensweisen charakterisiert (Durkheim 1999: 100). Die Institutionen gelten seither als die Stützpfeiler der Gesellschaft. Der zweite Gründungsvater des Institutionalismus ist Max Weber. Dessen idealtypische Darstellung der Bürokratischen Organisation gilt bis heute als die erste profunde organisationssoziologische Arbeit (Senge/Hellmann 2006: 9). Begriffe wie Bürokratie, Macht, Herrschaft, Autorität und Legitimität stehen im Zentrum der weberischen Organisationssoziologie. Mit diesem gesamtgesellschaftlichen Interessenspektrum schafft Weber ein neues Forschungsterrain für eine ganze Generation von Soziologen. So gewinnt in den 50er Jahren die Stellung der Organisationen für die moderne Gesellschaft immer mehr an Bedeutung. Gesellschafts-wissenschaftler wie Robert Merton, Philip Selznick, Talcott Parsons und andere treiben die Theorie voran. Ein neues Paradigma entsteht. Die Organisationen werden nicht mehr als von der Gesellschaft isolierte Einzelphänomene betrachtet, sondern stets in ihren komplexen und kontextuellen gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhängen (Senge/Hellmann 2006:11). Diese in den Arbeiten der Old Institutionalists dargelegten Theorien zum Gegenstand Organisation wurden ihrerseits von einer neuen Generation von Wissenschaftler gegen Mitte der 70er Jahren aufgenommen und in einigen Aspekten neu formuliert. Abstand zur politischen Soziologie zeichnet der neue Ansatz aus. Konflikte und Interessensunterschiede werden weniger betont, dafür bestärkt die Homogenität zwischen Organisationen und ihrem institutionellen Umfeld. 40 pp. Deutsch.

Que l'on s'intéresse tout particulièrement au style (les notions de plurilinguisme et de plurivocalisme, l'onomastique, les néologismes, les recherches de rythme, la satire des discours, etc.) ou à l'ambiguïté idéologique (la vision de l'homme par rapport à une politique de droite, la question de l'anarchisme, la critique sociale, etc.) ou encore au refus de l'illusion réaliste (une structure non définie de l'enchaînement narratif et du cadre spatio-temporel, un récit entre l'Histoire et le fantastique, un brouillage identitaire entre l'auteur, le narrateur et son alter ego, etc.) les pistes d'analyses sont multiples. Cependant, ces phénomènes pouvant aller de pair, nous ne comptons pas nous restreindre à un seul axe d'analyse. En partant de la problématique des pulsions de mort, notre intention est bien plus d'étudier les transformations sémantiques qui s'opèrent autour de passages comparables ; les grands axes d'analyse seront abordés au fil des extraits dans la mesure où ils contribuent à la compréhension de la problématique posée. C'est en parcourant plusieurs des ouvrages critiques consacrés au Voyage que notre intention s'est porté sur l'idée d'une complicité des hommes et de la matière avec la mort. Cette thématique n'est abordée dans les ouvrages critiques que brièvement et d'une manière générale. A notre avis, le développement de la thématique des pulsions de mort est cependant indispensable à la compréhension du message anti-idéaliste et antihumaniste du roman ; en exhibant l'horreur du réel sans la tempérer par un discours des valeurs, le narrateur expose la cruauté fondamentale de l'homme, d'abord à la guerre puis en temps de paix. De cette idée d'une cruauté fondamentale résulte la conviction que tout homme est à la fois habité par une passion homicide et une volonté suicidaire : « Il existe pour le pauvre en ce monde deux grandes manière de crever, soit par l'indifférence absolue de vos semblables en temps de paix, ou par la passions homicides des mêmes en la guerre venues. » , « Je savais moi, ce qu'ils cherchaient, ce qu'ils cachaient avec leurs airs de rien les gens.
