Full front illustrated green paste-on w/ titles and 3 sitting children. Stitched binding. Gilt page blocks. 8 color plates. Children's literature series with a first chapter "About the Fairchilds" with 13 more chapters, the last being "Grandmamma Fairchild". Mrs. Sherwood wrote this a century before this publication. Two little girls have a visit with their grandmother who presents them with the doll seed from her childhood. She wants them to cherish it. One thinks it ugly, the other sees its value. The Fairchilds had 3 children: Lucy, 9 in the early stories, Emily, younger, and Henry, age 5-6. They were home-schooled. They had 2 servants, Good. No dust jacket. Binding loose in patches. Darkened spine. Wear to spine ends. Light cover scuffing. Plates very nice. 1.
