FIRST EDITION. 179 x 117 mm. (7 x 4 1/2"). Three volumes. Edited by W. Carew Hazlitt. Attractive 19th century red half morocco over marbled boards, raised bands, spines densely gilt. â A touch of wear to edges, marbled boards just slightly rubbed, occasional spot or bit of soiling internally, but a fine set with only trivial wear. This is a very pleasing set of the "reprints of the early and very rare jest-books supposed to have been used by Shakespeare," collected and edited by renowned bibliographer William Hazlitt. This is an invaluable resource to anyone interested in Shakespeare and early modern English literature, with the added bonus of looking quite handsome on the shelf.

Cloth. Condición: Very Good. None Ilustrador. A scarce edition of Shakespeare's Library edited by William Hazlitt. Volumes I - VI, complete. This is a set of the plays, romances, and poems that inspired the works of Shakespeare. William Shakespeare, d.1616, was an English poet and playwright, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright. William Hazlitt, 1778 1830, was an English writer, remembered for his humanistic essays and literary criticism, and as a grammarian and philosopher. He is now considered one of the great critics and essayists of the English language, placed in the company of Samuel Johnson and George Orwell. During his lifetime he befriended many people who are now part of the 19th-century literary canon, including Charles and Mary Lamb, Stendhal, Samuel Taylor Coleridge and William Wordsworth. There is some mild wear to the extremities, including some mild bumping. There is a small closed tear to the front free-endpaper of volume 4. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with some slight browning to the page edges. Very Good. book.
