Below image signed in the plate "W. Miller pinx. - Ruotte sculp.", and lettered "Salvator mundi. A Paris, chez Tessari & Co., Quai des Augustins. No. 25". 37,9 x 30,4 cm.*This print not in Beraldi and Nagler. Louis Charles Ruotte père was a French stipple engraver, who worked for some time in London. William Miller was a British history, portrait, landscape and genre painter. - Very ample margins; paper foxed; fold and a few small tears in blank margins only. Collector's stamp on verso of 'Grossh. Museum zu Schwerin' (Lugt No. 2273).[(6180)].

Hand coloured Napoleonic caricature of George IIIrd being asleep whilst the new French Government headed by Napoleon intend to invade. Measures approx 10 x 12 inches with margins trimmed close. (25 x 30 cm). Hnad made laid railed paper with a possible "crescent" cartouche/motif in the weave. Colours strong but print handled in places and light crease bottom left corner and also the wall space, colouring a little patchy, the publishers details have been cut off along the base, but title remains. RARE. British Museum copy is not coloured another in France has different colouring, no others listed for sale at time of listing, worldwide. NOTE*. French Revolution & War with England. Satire on the plan of January 12, 1798 of Bonaparte, commander-in-chief of the armies of England, to invade England. Interior scene, portraits of heads of state: Georges III asleep in front of a table, bandages on the ground. The King of Spain, the Emperor and General Bonaparte jostle a tavern keeper to wake him up. A Dutchman slips away. Military uniforms, geographical map of the north of France and England with the inscription: "there is only one step". Map a curiosity also the English Channel named the "Canal Libre" or Free Channel + Napoleon is 6ft tall in this biased French Napoleonic caricature and the tallest in the room. Nice one!.

Lodewijk Napoleon Bonaparte (1778-1846) ruled over Holland from 1806 to 1810.Stipplework, etching and roulette on wove paper. Sheet size 327 x 418 mm. Made by Louis Charles Ruotte (1754-1806), after a drawing by Albert Grégorius (1774-1853) made of the bust by Pierre Cartellier (1757-1831). The print was published in Amsterdam by Buffa & co., and in Paris by Potrelle, as part of a series representing members of the French Imperial family and European Kings, 1805-1810.A very nice and crisp impression. Cropped within platemark, faint foxing in the margins.References: Le Blanc 33.

Stampa antica ed originale. Il disegno del Duclos, ritrattista poco conosciuto allievo del David, prende come modello il busto realizzato da Bosio, esposto al Salon del 1810 (n° 906). L'opera, insieme ad un busto raffigurante l'Imperatore, venne commissionata allo scultore direttamente dallo stesso Napoleone dietro le raccomandazioni di Dominique Vivant-Denon. Per questi busti il Bosio ricevette la somma di franchi 7600. La rappresentazione dell'Imperatrice, considerata come ritratto ufficiale, fu ampiamente diffusa e di ispirazione per altri scultori dell'epoca come gli italiani Giacomo Spalla e Lorenzo Bartolini.
