hardcover. Condición: fair. Hardcover, no dust jacket, 141 pages. Poor cover with broken spine, good contents, inscription dated 1964. Very little about Epictetus is known with certainty except that he was the slave of one Epaphroditus, a profligate freedman of Rome and an officer of Nero's imperial guard. But is generally believed that Epictetus was lame and a weakling from birth, and perhaps because of this physical weakness his master sent him to study philosophy.
