Mass Market Paperback. Condición: Near Fine. John Schoenherr, Jack Gaughan, Frank Kelly Freas, Gray Morrow, Josh Kirby, Karel Thole, Others (front covers) Ilustrador. Later and/or First Printings. ----------This heavy set will require NO additional shipping charges for standard shipping for a US or Canadian order, overseas orders will require a shipping charge DRAMATICALLY LESS than actual postage (inquire). 56 paperbacks, all Ace Science Fiction Doubles, also referred to as tete-beche or dos-a-dos, describing books which when flipped over reveal another cover and book. Ace issued their science fiction doubles from 1953 to 1973 (there were "doubles" beyond 1973, but they bore a single cover which listed both books). The books were issued in 5 letter-prefix series based on original cover price, and 1 numerical series. Offered here is the final series, the NUMERICAL series, also referred to as the 5-Number or 5-Digit series, consisting of 56 volumes issued from 1969 to 1973, and bearing original cover prices of $0.60, $0.75 or $0.95. It is the COMPLETE set of Ace SF doubles Numerical series, starting with 00990, to 93900 (books were not issued in numerical order, but numbers were assigned based on the alphabetic properties of one of the titles in the volume). The Numerical series consisted of both reprints from earlier Ace Doubles, and first editions, and several authors made important appearances here. Notable first editions are by Dean R. Koontz (FIVE books), 5 entries in E.C. Tubb's Dumarest series, Philip Jose Farmer's Tarzan and Doc Savage pastiches (The Mad Goblin and The Lord of the Trees), and an entry in Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover series. Two Philip K. Dick books, The Unteleported Man and Dr. Futurity, are reprinted here. Other writers made appearances, such as Kenneth Bulmer, Emil Petaja, A. Bertram Chandler, Mack Reynolds, John Rackham, Louis Trimble, Brian Stableford, Jack Vance, Neal Barrett, Doris Piserchia, William F. Temple, Edmond Hamilton, Ross Rocklynne and others. Condition of the books ranges from VG to unread fine, with most being at least near fine. Very attractive colourful books. Inquiries on condition or requests for cover scans of individual volumes are welcomed.
