Leather. Condición: Near Fine. John Leech Ilustrador. A scarce short novel by Angus B. Reach and Shirley Brooks, in very attractive Riviere polished calf binding. With a steel engraved plate by John Leech, as well as ten others by Smyth, this short and humorous novel is an excellent example of light Victorian literature, and includes the original paper wraps pasted into the rear of the volume. Angus Reach was a British writer noted for his journalism and ficiton. He counted Shirley Brooks as his greatest friend, who was also a novelist and journalist. Brooks is noted for his contributions to Punch, at one time becoming editor. This scarce work is the only one the two wrote together. Direct from the library of the late Hugh Selbourne MD (1906-1973) a noted book collector and diarist. In full polished calf binding with gilt detailing. Externally very smart, thee is some very minor wear to the extremities and joints, with some light markings. Front hinge strained. Internally, the pages are firmly bound and are bright and clean throughout. There is a small ink stamp from Selbourne Library to the verso of title page. Near Fine. book.
