A rich selection of recipes as compiled by Fort Langley "Friends of the Fort", which, includes a delectable selection of Indigenous recipes including those for: Roast Bear, Bannock, Elk Roast, American Indian Bread, Savory Bannock. Sections include: Soups and Savory Sauces, Vegetables, Entrees (Beef, Pork, Fish, Fowl), Wild Game, Bannock, Breads and Scones, Preserves, Special Libations, Grandma's Forgotten Recipes, and much else. Included within is a concise history of Fort Langley since its founding in 1827 by James McMillan leading a party of 25. Bright, clean, and unmarked; near fine. "This cook book has been created as a special project by the Fort Langley Cooperating Association. It has been planned for several years as a result of the popularity of the 1858 styled "candlelight dinners" served in the "Big House" in the Fort Langley National Historic Park. Many people asked for our good old recipes which might be revamped to suit modern conveniences. "Bannock and Beavertails" is both practical and adventurous. Its pages contain, not only recipes from times gone by but also, excerpts from the Fort Langley Journal, historical memoirs and comments by several people noteworthy for their contributions to the community at large.".
