Front free endpaper has a dedication from the author dated 18th February 1975 to Betty B. "One of the most loyal and charming women any man could have the pleasure of working with". A limited edition of 600 copies. Grey dust jacket is price-unclipped and has titles in red to both the front cover and to spine; some browning to spine and to a 3cm margin down the rear cover adjoining spine. One small tear to foot of rear cover of dust jacket with slight loss, and a second closed tear to foot of spine. In addition to short biographical accounts of the marine artists covered in the book there are also three appendices on the history, ship construction and flags of the period. A bonus, inserted to the inside of the front cover, is an informative illustrated catalogue of 17th century seascape paintings of the Netherlands which accompanied an exhibition held at Hal O'Nians Gallery, London SW 1 between the 1st June and the 30th June 1965.
