"Long ago in the seventeenth century, Coronado, the Spanish explorer, led his long train of men and horses through the Southwest looking for the fabled Seven Cities of Cibola. They moved forward slowly, the wind tugging at the long azure plume in Coronado's hat. Before them loomed a stone mountain on the level top of which they could see a strange village of flat-roofed adobe brick and sandstone houses. These houses stood in tiers, one above the other. The roof of one served as a little porch for the one above it." ---------- from Hopis: The Pueblo People. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Ex-Library.

Full page illustrations by Ann Eshner printed in brown, black & white. Light brown cloth decorated with a small Mexican boy. 6 1/2 X 8 1/2 inches. 126 pages. Child's large pencil drawing on front & rear end papers, attractive bookplate. Nicely illustrated jacket un-clipped. Very good, inspite of the child's drawing. It sort of adds to the charm of the book. This is the story of a little Mexican boy who goes out into the world to seek his fortune. He journeys from his home in Mexico City to the top of the far-off silver mountains to the town of Taxco. This is the story of his adventures along the way.
