Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. First Edition. Q4 - A first edition (First published 1983 stated) hardcover book SIGNED by Edgar F. Penzig on the front free endpaper in very good condition in very good dust jacket that is mylar protected. Dust jacket has some wrinkling, chipping and crease on the edges and corners, fading on the spine, scattered rubbing, light scraches and scuffing, light tanning and shelf wear. Book cocked, some bumped corners and cover edgewear, wrinkling on the spine edges, tanning and light shelf wear. Tells the story of John Gilbert, known as a Real Flash Cove, and shows that the romantic bushranger of ballad and story was, in fact, just another colonial criminal. The book is packed with detail about the various hold-ups and other nefarious activities of John Gilbert and his associates. Meticulous research shows that many widely believed versions of the events are inaccurate or wrong. The carefully documented and exciting retold story of Gilbert's final shoot-out includes details of the firearms used in this final encounter. The illustrations include every known picture of Gilbert including modern films and re-enactments. A fascinating chronicle of a turbulent period in our colonial history. 8.75"x5.25", 160 pages. Satisfaction Guaranteed. Johnny Gilbert was an Australian bushranger shot dead by the police at the age of 23 near Binalong, New South Wales on 13 May 1865. Gilbert was a member of Ben Hall's gang. Hall and Gilbert were both shot by police within a week of each other. Hall was shot dead on 5 May 1865 near Forbes. After Hall was killed his gang split up and Gilbert and John Dunn travelled to Binalong where Dunn had relatives. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Signed by Author.
