Technic: Steel engraving, colorit: original colored, condition: Some Stains, size (in cm): 13,5 x 16,5 cm; - View shows a camp of an Indian family in the jungle of Brazil.; History: The oldest traces of human life were found in the Caverna da Pedra Pintada in the state of Piauí. The early inhabitants fundamentally changed the ecosystem of the Amazon basin by planting certain types of plants and improving the soil. Their settlements - for example on the huge river island of Marajó - were far larger than long thought. In the province of Mato Grosso there were numerous planned locations where fish farming and agriculture were practiced until around 1500. The cities, which were up to 60 hectares in size, were connected by a road network - although in most areas the canoe was the means of transportation - there were dams and artificial ponds. As in many places in America, the people of the Xingu are believed to have been victims of the epidemic, especially smallpox. The indigenous peoples in Brazil lived partly from hunting, fishing and gathering, as well as from the fragile ecosystem of adapted soil management. A large part of the local population died in the course of European colonization, mostly from imported diseases, but also as a result of forced labor or enslavement. The majority of the Indians living outside the rainforest, especially in the cities, were assimilated insofar as they survived violence and epidemics and mingled with European immigrants. Already in 1494 Portugal and Spain decided to divide South America in the Tordesillas Treaty. Because the line had been agreed in ignorance of the coastline of the New World, the (at that time still generally unknown) eastern tip of South America also belonged to Portugal. The prerequisite for a legitimate possession was the consequent catholization of the locals. The period from 1500 to 1530 was marked by bartering with the locals. In 1549, today's Salvador da Bahia (São Salvador da Bahía de Todos os Santos) was named the capital. From 1530, native Indians were brought to the coast from inland who had to do the work on the sugar cane plantations in the northeast. Many of them died because of hard work, persecution, and indigenous susceptibility to European diseases. The colonialists then tried to replace the lost labor with slaves from Africa.

Technic: Steel engraving, colorit: colored, condition: Very good, size (in cm): 13,5 x 16,5; - View of the city of Berlin with the royal mills; History: The name of the high medieval founding city of Berlin comes from the Old Polish word Birlin, Berlin, which means 'place in a marshy area'. The town of Kölln, located on the Spree Island, was first mentioned in a document in 1237. This was followed in 1244 by the first mention of (Old) Berlin, which lies on the northeastern bank of the Spree. In 1280, the first verifiable Mark Brandenburg Diet took place in Berlin. This points to an early top position, as can also be seen from the land book of Charles IV (1375), when Berlin is proven to be the city with the highest tax revenue together with Stendal, Prenzlau and Frankfurt/Oder. The two cities Berlin and Kölln got a common town hall in 1307. From the 14th century onwards, Berlin was a member of the Hanseatic League's trade association. In 1518, Berlin formally left or was excluded from the Hanseatic League. The Reformation was introduced in Berlin and Kölln in 1539 under Elector Joachim II, without any major disputes. Frederick William, known as the Great Elector, took over the reigns from his father in 1640. From 1641, the suburbs of Friedrichswerder, Dorotheenstadt and Friedrichstadt were founded. Under Frederick William, a policy of immigration and religious tolerance was cultivated. In 1671, 50 Jewish families from Austria were given a home in Berlin. With the Potsdam Edict of Tolerance in 1685, the Elector invited the French Huguenots to Brandenburg. Berlin gained the status of Prussian capital in 1701 with the coronation of Frederick I as King in Prussia, which was made official by the edict creating the Royal Residence of Berlin by merging the cities of Berlin, Kölln, Friedrichswerder, Dorotheenstadt and Friedrichstadt on January 17, 1709. Around 1800, the city developed into one of the centers of the German cultural landscape, which was expressed in the metropolitan civic culture known as "Berlin Classicism." Religious and social tolerance during this period made Berlin one of the most important cities of the Enlightenment in Europe. After Prussia's defeat by Napoleon's armies in 1806, King Frederick William III left Berlin for Königsberg. Authorities and wealthy families moved away from Berlin. French troops occupied the city from 1806 to 1808. Under the reformer Freiherr vom und zum Stein, the new Berlin City Code was adopted in 1808. The formation of a Berlin University, proposed by Wilhelm von Humboldt, played a significant role in the reforms of schools and scientific institutions. In the following decades until around 1850, new factories settled outside the city walls, where immigrants found employment as workers or day laborers. As a result, the number of inhabitants doubled due to immigration from the eastern parts of the country. Important companies such as Borsig, Siemens or AEG emerged and soon led to Berlin being considered an industrial city.

Technic: Steel engraving, colorit: original colored, condition: Perfect condition, size (in cm): 14 x 15,5; - View of the bronze statue of Zar Peter the Great in St. Petersbourg.; History: In the area of St. Petersburg since the 10th century representatives of various Finno-Ugric peoples lived mostly on agriculture. At the beginning of the 14th century, Sweden and Novgorod quarreled over the area. A Swedish settlement at this place, handed down as Landskrona, was allegedly destroyed in 1301. After that, it was agreed that the region should be considered as a buffer zone between the spheres of influence, where no fortresses could be built. In the following centuries, the area was used at least as a landing place for ships sailing on the Neva River, and possibly as a trading center. The latter certainly applies to the period of renewed Swedish dominance in the region after the construction of the Nyenschanz fortress in 1611 and the Nyen settlement that soon surrounded it. Both were located in the urban area of present-day Saint Petersburg on the northern (or right) bank of the Neva River. There is evidence of major urban development ambitions of the Swedes for Nyen in the 17th century. However, these suffered a severe setback when the settlement and fortress were destroyed by Russian troops in 1656 during the Second Northern War. Reconstruction was soon followed by the final conquest of Nyenschanz on May 1, 1703, during the Great Northern War, by the Russians under Sheremetev, who were advancing down the Neva. Nyen had already been preemptively cleared and partially destroyed by the Swedes themselves by this time. The end of Nyen and Nyenschanz simultaneously marked the beginning of the city history of Saint Petersburg in 1703, the year in which the foundation stone for the Peter and Paul Fortress, named after the Tsar's namesake, was laid on an island opposite Nyenschanz in the Neva Delta.

Technic: Steel engraving, colorit: original colored, condition: Perfect condition, size (in cm): 13 x 16,5 cm; - View shows the Catholic Church in Leipzig.; History: The history of Leipzig was shaped by its importance as a trading center. Thanks to its favorable location at the intersection of trade routes and trade fair privileges, it already held an outstanding position in the trade in goods, and later also in the printing and book trade. Leipzig was never a royal seat or a bishopric and was always characterized by urban bourgeoisie. The University of Leipzig, founded in 1409, is one of the oldest universities in what is now the Federal Republic of Germany. Leipzig acquired the nickname "Little Paris" when the progressive trade fair city was equipped with street lighting in 1701 and from then on could be compared with the glamorous Seine metropolis. At the beginning of the 18th century, Georg Philipp Telemann studied in Leipzig and founded the Collegium musicum here. From 1723 until his death in 1750, Johann Sebastian Bach was employed by the city council as Thomaskantor and ?Director musices? (head of all church music in the city). This is where u. a. the St. John Passion, the St. Matthew Passion, the Christmas Oratorio, the B minor Mass and the art of the fugue. In 1729 Bach took over the management of the Collegium Musicum, which until 1741 performed numerous of his secular cantatas and instrumental compositions in Zimmermann's coffee house.

Technic: Steel engraving, colorit: colored, condition: Very good, size (in cm): 15 x 16,5; - Historic depiction of a card game.; History: Playing cards originated in East Asia. Playing cards probably did not originate until the 12th-13th centuries, and the earliest playing cards can be traced back to 12th century Korea and China. Early illustrations show that the cards were originally folded and not held in a fanned manner, suggesting that originally only games of chance were played and not combination games. From China, playing cards made their way to India and Persia, as well as to Arab countries, and towards the end of the 14th century they also came to Europe, where they were initially popular in Italy and France. In the 15th and 16th centuries, the playing card hands known today were formed, with the French, German and Spanish hands gaining the greatest popularity. Many well-known card games originated in France and spread to Germany and other regions from the 17th and 18th centuries, including Bassette and its further development Pharo, as well as Piquet and L'Hombre. The modern double-headed playing cards emerged at the end of the 18th century, and from the 19th century the backs of playing cards were also printed, first with marbled motifs, later with dot and dash patterns, and finally with the Scottish check pattern still in use today.1 Games such as Skat, Whist, and Bridge were developed during this period, followed by Canasta and Rummy at the beginning of the 20th century.

Technic: Steel engraving, colorit: colored, condition: Very good, size (in cm): 10 x 15; - View of Philadelphia; History: The discovery of America signifies the first sighting of the American continent by seafarers. Before Columbus' arrival in 1492, North America may have had more inhabitants than Europe at that time. In 1497, the Genoese John Cabot (actually: Giovanni Caboto) was the first European to set foot on North American soil since the Vikings. However, no permanent settlements were established for the time being. St. Augustine in Florida, founded by the Spanish in 1565, is considered the first city on the North American mainland and is also the oldest city in the United States. In the European conquest of North America, four states stood out, each of which facilitated the seizure: England was under pressure to emigrate, in part because of religion, and thus was able to represent the largest group numerically. France had special skills in dealing with indigenous peoples, which later led to the only mixed ethnic group, the Métis .Netherlands had the financial resources to establish colonies in North America. Spain had enormous military potential because of its battle experience. In 1604, the King of England, James I, divided his North American colonies as follows: The area from the 1st to the 41st parallel is said to be settled by the Virginia Company of London, the area from the 41st to the 45th degree by the Plymouth Company. 1607 is considered the founding year of the first permanent colony of English settlers on the east coast of America. There was a collision between three cultures: Indians, white settlers and slaves from Africa. In that year, the first settlers from England landed at Jamestown, followed by the (better known) Pilgrims on the Mayflower in what is now the state of Massachusetts. These could find shelter directly in the abandoned Indian settlements. The coastal Indians were now ready to cooperate and had established Plymouth the English gateway to North America.

Technic: Steel engraving, colorit: colored, condition: Very good, size (in cm): 14 x 15,5; - View of the palace Peterskoi in Moscow; History: Moscow is the major political, economic, cultural, and scientific center of Russia and Eastern Europe, as well as the largest city entirely on the European continent. Moscow is situated on the Moskva River in the Central Federal District of European Russia, making it Europe's most populated inland city. The earliest East Slavic tribes recorded as having expanded to the upper Volga in the 9th to 10th centuries are the Vyatichi and Krivichi. The Moskva River was incorporated as part of Kievan Rus into the Suzdal in the 11th century. The timber fort na Moskv_ "on the Moscow River" was inherited by Daniel, the youngest son of Alexander Nevsky, in the 1260s, at the time considered the least valuable of his father's possessions. Daniel ruled Moscow as Grand Duke until 1303 and established it as a prosperous city that would eclipse its parent principality of Vladimir by the 1320s. On the right bank of the Moskva River, at a distance of five miles from the Kremlin, not later than in 1282, Daniel founded the first monastery with the wooden church of St. Daniel-Stylite. Now it is the Danilov Monastery. Daniel died in 1303, at the age of 42. Before his death, he became a monk and, according to his will, was buried in the cemetery of the St. Daniel Monastery. Moscow was stable and prosperous for many years and attracted a large number of refugees from across Russia. While Khan of the Golden Horde initially attempted to limit Moscow's influence, when the growth of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania began to threaten all of Russia, the Khan strengthened Moscow to counterbalance Lithuania, allowing it to become one of the most powerful cities in Russia. The original Moscow Kremlin was built during the 14th century. The entire city of the late 17th century, including the slobodas that grew up outside the city ramparts, are contained within what is today Moscow's Central Administrative Okrug.

Technic: Steel engraving, colorit: colored, condition: Perfect condition, size (in cm): 23 x 19; - Map shows total Denmark with Jutland, Funen, Zealand, Lolland-Falster, etc. and the traditional provinces of Sweden Halland, Scania, Blekinge and the Dutsch of Holstein it's was the northernmost state of the Holy Roman Empire, located in the present German state of Schleswig-Holstein.; History: Denmark is a country and sovereign state in Northern Europe and a parliamentary monarchy. Denmark is officially called the Kingdom of Denmark along with the Faroe Islands, which geographically belong to Northern Europe, like the mother country, and Greenland, which belongs to North America. The Danish people are said to have come from Scania to Jutland and the western Baltic islands in the 6th century, where they displaced other Germanic tribes. In the 10th century, Gorm the Old (around 950) united the individual minor kingdoms under his rule. Until 1035, when Knut the Great died, the Danish kings succeeded in conquering large parts of the British Isles. Until well into the 11th century, the Danes, Swedes and Norwegians, among others, were called Vikings, who founded colonies and traded throughout Europe. The only land border is between Denmark and Germany. A Danish minority lives in the former Danish southern Schleswig. With the Kalmar Union, Halland was suddenly in the center of the Danish Empire and, according to the Union Treaty, Erich of Pomerania should have been crowned in Halmstad. In the period that followed, Halland was not spared the wars of the era. In 1434, the landscape was conquered by the fighters of the Engelbrekt uprising and the Falkenberg castle was burned down. In the course of the Three Crown War, the Battle of Axtorna (also: Battle on the Falkenberger Haide) took place here in 1565, during which the Danish general Rantzau defeated a superior Swedish army. Until 1645 Halland belonged to Denmark and was then awarded in the peace of Brömsebro to Sweden for 30 years. Since the Peace of Roskilde in 1658, Halland has finally belonged to Sweden, although Denmark tried again in the Schoen War (1675?1679) to recapture lost territory.

It is historically famous for its hot springs. Around 1350, Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor organized an expedition into the forests surrounding modern-day Karlovy Vary during a stay in Loket. On the site of a spring, he established a spa called the Horké Lázn_ u Lokte(Hot Spas at Loket). The location was subsequently named in German "Carlsbad" after him once he had acclaimed the healing power of the hot springs, at least according to legend. Charles IV granted the town privileges on 14 August 1370. Earlier settlements can be also found in the outskirts of today's town. An important political event took place in the town in 1819, with the issuing of the Carlsbad Decrees following a conference there. Initiated by the Austrian Minister of State Klemens von Metternich, the decrees were intended to implement anti-liberal censorship within the German Confederation.

Technic: Pigskin, colorit: colored, condition: Perfect condition, size (in cm): 16,5 x 19; - Decorative total view of Munich, surrounded by 9 views of important streets and buildings such as: Ludwigskirche, Siegestor, Obelisk, Feldherrnhalle, Frauenchuch, Isartor,Castle and Theater, Mecet and the Pfarrchurch.; History: Munich- Munchen, the name of the city is derived from the Old/Middle High German term Munichen, meaning "by the monks". It derives from the monks of the Benedictine order who ran a monastery at the place that was later to become the Old Town of Munich; hence the monk depicted on the city's coat of arms. Munich was first mentioned in 1158. From 1255 the city was seat of the Bavarian Dukes. Black and gold ? the colours of the Holy Roman Empire ? have been the city's official colours since the time of Ludwig the Bavarian, when it was an imperial residence. Following a final reunification of the Wittelsbachian Duchy of Bavaria, previously divided and sub-divided for more than 200 years, the town became the country's sole capital in 1506. Catholic Munich was a cultural stronghold of the Counter-Reformation and a political point of divergence during the resulting Thirty Years' War, but remained physically untouched despite an occupation by the Protestant Swedes; as the townsfolk would rather open the gates of their town than risk siege and almost inevitable destruction. Like wide parts of the Holy Roman Empire, the area recovered slowly economically. Having evolved from a duchy's capital into that of an electorate (1623), and later a sovereign kingdom (1806), Munich has been a centre of arts, culture and science since the early 19th century.

Technic: Steel engraving, colorit: original colored, condition: Perfect condition, size (in cm): 24,5 x 35 cm; - Magnificent bird's eye view of the Hanseatic City of Hamburg in Germany.; History: One of Germany's 16 federal states, it is surrounded by Schleswig-Holstein to the north and Lower Saxony to the south. The official name reflects Hamburg's history as a member of the medieval Hanseatic League and a free imperial city of the Holy Roman Empire. Before the 1871 Unification of Germany, it was a fully sovereign city state, and before 1919 formed a civic republic headed constitutionally by a class of hereditary grand burghers or Hanseaten. Beset by disasters such as the Great Fire of Hamburg, north Sea flood of 1962 and military conflicts including World War II bombing raids, the city has managed to recover and emerge wealthier after each catastrophe. In 834, Hamburg was designated as the seat of a bishopric. The first bishop, Ansgar, became known as the Apostle of the North. Two years later, Hamburg was united with Bremen as the Bishopric of Hamburg-Bremen. Hamburg was destroyed and occupied several times. In 845, 600 Viking ships sailed up the River Elbe and destroyed Hamburg, at that time a town of around 500 inhabitants. In 1030, King Mieszko II Lambert of Poland burned down the city. Valdemar II of Denmark raided and occupied Hamburg in 1201 and in 1214. In 1189, by imperial charter, Frederick I "Barbarossa" granted Hamburg the status of a Free Imperial City and tax-free access (or free-trade zone) up the Lower Elbe into the North Sea. In 1265, an allegedly forged letter was presented to or by the Rath of Hamburg. This charter, along with Hamburg's proximity to the main trade routes of the North Sea and Baltic Sea, quickly made it a major port in Northern Europe. When Jan van Valckenborgh introduced a second layer to the fortifications to protect against the Thirty Years War in the seventeenth century, he extended Hamburg and created a "New Town" (Neustadt) whose street names still date from the grid system of roads he introduced. Upon the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire in 1806, the Free Imperial City of Hamburg was not incorporated into a larger administrative area while retaining special privileges (mediatised), but became a sovereign state with the official title of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
