Obrucev (1863 - 1956) was a geologist who travled widely in Central Asia. He is remembered in Russia today as one of its first science fiction authors. He participated during 1892-94 in Potanin`s expedition to Mongolia and the Nan Shan mountains. In the present collection of adventure stories he uses his experiences to describe the travels of a merchant and treasure hunter in Dzungaria, Monglia and Tibet. Original Russian edition.
