Fine in blue-green cloth covered boards with gilt text stamped on the spine, gilt borders on the front and rear boards and a gilt company logo on the front board with green printed end sheets. A 16mo measuring 6 3/4" by 4 1/4" with upper and lower headbands and with the top edge of the text block gilt. Without a dust jacket as issued, but still contained within the publisher's shrink wrap. 346 pages including an index followed by six pages of the previous Lakeside Classics and a page for image credits and a colophon. Illustrated with a color frontispiece, and numerous color and sepia photographic reproductions. In 1889 the two authors were engaged by their respective publishers to travel around the world with the goal of beating the other and the fictional record of Phileas Fogg in Around the World in Eighty Days.
