Hard Back. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: No Dust Jacket. Dixon, Maynard Ilustrador. 1974 Aeonian Press Reprint. 488 Pages. This is a 1974 Aeonian Press reprint of the 1908, 1911, 1912, and 1913 copyrights by arrangement with Doubleday & Company. Book has some stains on pager edges and wear around the edges that is difficult so see in the scan. Aeonian Press began reprinting the Hopalong books in 1974 but when they published one of the four titles by Tex Burns (Louis L'Amour) Doubleday objected. A few were released however, and those Aeonian titles have became scarce. Clarence Mulford is known for his Hopalong Cassidy and Bar 20 novels, and more than 60 movies were made in the 1930's and 40's most starring William Boyd as Hopalong. In this book Buck Peters has put everything he owns into the Bar-20 Ranch. When a gang of buffalo hunters decide that they want his ranch and his cattle and his life, things look really bad - until the arrival of cowhand Hopalong Cassidy. Included are four Maynard Dixon illustrations. Dixon had traveled through the southwest and these trips provided Maynard Dixon with the inspiration to create his drawings. He was drawn to the scenes and peoples inhabiting these remote western lands. Illustration Titles: Frontispiece - Suddenly a rope yanked him for the saddle. Page 133 Its Injuns close after us. Page 248 Crawford's Colt tore loose from his fingers and dropped near the wagon wheel. Page 378 You're a liar rang out the vibrant voice of the cowman.

Hardcover. Maynard Dixon Ilustrador. First edition. 367pp. Octavo [21 cm] Light yellowish brown cloth with a brown ink stamped title on the spine, and a gilt stamped title on the front cover. Good condition only. The edges of the covers are rubbed. The spine is sublty rolled. The head of the spine has two closed tears in the cloth, and there is a small loss from the cloth at the foot of the spine. There is a contemporary notation on the front free endsheet. The text block is cracked at the end. The pages at the end of the text have small stains in the bottom margins. With four illustrations in color by Maynard Dixon. Maynard Dixon's mentor, Charles Lummis, encouraged Dixon at the beginning of his painting career to leave California, and "travel East to see the real West". He was perpetually drawn to the scenes and peoples inhabiting these remote western lands.

Hardcover. Condición: Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. Maynard DIxon Ilustrador. 1st Edition. The date on the copyright page is October 1913, but there are some advertisements on the rear panel of the dust jacket for books published in 1914, 1915, and possibly 1916 (none later than that date). This Burt Company reprint is in the same format as the McClurg 1913 edition and has the four full-page color illustrated plates by Maynard Dixon, same cover decoration and stamping. Also, the very rare original dust jacket has the same Dixon illustration on the front panel as the McClurg edition jacket (unlike the later Star reprints which usually have different cover art on the jackets). The book is in fine condition with no previous owner marks or writing, tight binding, no foxing, clean. The original dust jacket has some tiny tears at the spine ends, light rubbing to the rear panel, some dulling and spotting on the spine, 1cm tear upper spine near the middle. PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL BOOK BEING OFFERED.
