FIRST EDITION, SECOND PRINTING. Original publisher's cloth, in original dust-jacket, lightly soiled. Inscription to fly-leaf. From the library of Ralph Hermon Major, with his bookplate. First edition, second printing of this book based on Moynihan's lecture on physicians who left the practice for other pursuits. Former physicians treated include Sir Thomas Browne, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and Silas Weir Mitchell. Moynihan (1865-1936) was a British surgeon and professor of medicine who was an authority on abdominal surgery. Major (1884-1970), a professor of pathology at the University of Kansas, was a true Renaissance man: physician, historian, author, educator, polyglot, amateur musician and enthusiastic bibliophile. BMC, XVII, 784.
