The text is illustrated with 12 half - tone plates and five text drawings, by various artists. Maroon coloured boards with gilt writing on the spine. Red coloured tint to the top text block edge and other edges are uncut. This book was produced to help the war wounded after World War I, and includes prose, literary and poetical contributions by P.G. Wodehouse; Vita Sackville-West; Sapper; W.H. Davies; Belloc; Chesterton; Kipling; Churchill; Aldous Huxley. The corners are bumped and rubbed and slightly frayed. There is fading and rubbing to the panels and the head and heel of spine are soft and bumped. There is sending staying halfway down the front panel closest to the spine gutter. The cloth is somewhat dusty as well. Foxing has commenced on the paper edges which has then intruded into the internal pages. Foxing most noticeable on the first few and last few pages of the book. Booksellers sticker on the front paste down, and previous owners name on the ffep. Second impression of the First Edition. Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall. Please refer to accompanying picture (s).
