Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - 'Love of the Wild' by Archie P. McKishnie tells the story set in the wild. Archie P. McKishnie (1875 - 1946) was a popular Canadian author and short story writer. He was the brother of poet Jean Blewett. Excerpt: ' The World of the Untamed The hazy October sunlight sifted through the trees and lay, here and there, golden bits of carpet on the mossy woodland. A glossy black squirrel paused on one of these splashes of sunlight, and, sitting erect, preened his long fur; then as the harsh scolding of a red squirrel fell on his ears he sank on all fours again, and bounded into the heavy shadows of the wood. A pair of pursuing red squirrels sprang from an opposite grove and with shrill chidings crossed the open to the snake fence. By taking this fence they might intercept the quarry's flight, their object being to make short work of the black, whom they hated with an hereditary hatred harking back to the dim past.'.

Hardcover. Condición: Fair. Estado de la sobrecubierta: No Dustjacket. First Edition. ISBN . Hardback. No dustjacket, bound in green cloth with white ink lettering. No Statement of later printing on the copyright page. Tight sound copy with average wear, but pretty much a tight sound reading copy only due to the first page having been removed, the book starts on the title page so no text is missing, just the first blank endpaper. White ink has rubbed a fair amount off the spine lettering also. Still a very presentable copy of a scarce book to find in the original edition. No Signature.

Librería: BOOKS AND COMPANY LTD., Picton, ON, Canada
Soft cover. Condición: Good. This small volume was published as a supplemental to the December 1922 issue of Massey-Harris Illustrated magazine. This periodical was published six times a year beginning as early as 1881, and contained articles of interest to farmers and those living in rural Canada. The author, Archie P. McKishnie, was a prolific Canada writer. Born in New Scotland, Ontario, he published his first novel in 1907. He went on to become the editor of the dramatic section of the Sunday World paper in Toronto, as well as the director of the short-story writing program at Shaw school. Many of this short stories appeared in MacLean's magazine. Big John Wallace presents a romantic view of the settlement of Canadian wilderness by Scottish immigrants. It is told in the first person from the perspective of John Wallace who, at the age of 75, is looking back on his life after a birthday party in his honour. This volume is in good condition. It is bound in paper covers with a stapled spine, and there is a small tear in the cover from one of the staples. There is also some slight staining to the back cover.
