"In post-World War II America there were published a few small conservative magazines like Human Events, analysis, and Plain Talk, but there were none like the liberal New Republic or Nation that could influence and focus national attention on conservative issues and answers. Within that milieu, it would be difficult to overestimate the importance of the Freeman to the development of modern-day conservative and libertarian sensibilities. All the internal controversies and tensions that characterize a fledgling political faith were contained in its pages. With great verve, it leveled criticisms at liberal domestic and foreign policies and tried to present viable alternatives. By the end of 1955, when new owners changed the nature of the magazine, a self-conscious and relatively coherent movement had evolved. If 'creeping conservatism' was the grand trend of the 1950s, then the Freeman had been its professional and articulate journal of opinion." --- Charles Hamilton.

Hardcover. Condición: Good. No Jacket. Humphrey Dixon Ilustrador. ## First Aid Hints for the Horse Owner by Major W E Lyon 1933 ## ## THIS BOOK: Classified as GOOD. Dated as a 1933 EDITION. The binding is in green linen, good condition. No dust jacket. Considering its age, it is in good shape, it is a little marked on some pages, I guess when used to diagnose a horse ailment. This book isn?t meant as the horse ailment bible more a quick reference, if considered that home/stable treatment you could do. ## ## Authors Foreword: When I undertook to produce this book, I did so with a light heart, having the greatest confidence in my technical knowledge and literary ability of my friend and collaborator, Colonel Hugh Jagger. One day we made our list of contents. A few days later. Quite suddenly, he died. This, I am convinced was the only unkind thing he ever did in his life. HIs ready sympathy, his sense of humour and his understanding of our troubles must have left the lifelong impression on the memory of those who were fortunate enough to meet him, whether professionally or in private life. It was not until, left to myself, I started to write this book that I realised how numerous were the diseases that could render our mutual friend the horse temporarily or permanently useless to man. More pointedly still, I realised, in spite of my long association with horses, how meagre was my knowledge of these various ailments. It was a very early realisation of this deficiency that confirmed my resolution to seek the aid of some of the more expert veterinary surgeons in the country. To those, therefore, who had most kindly helped me by their criticism of my efforts. I am more grateful than I can express. The book is the richer for many practical and useful hints. Thanks to Mr L F hill., Mr Ernest Clipston, and Mr H Oldham. ## ### INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: Please Note. FREE SHIPPING IS UK ONLY. PLEASE, contact me for a shipping quotation. ###.
