Wear marks overall.

First edition in the publisher's original blue cloth binding. Very scarce. This work was compiled by Angus Mackay using the journals of John Macdonald, which were provided to him by the great grand-children and grandchildren of Macdonald. Comprised of accounts of Macdonald's varied life, from his days as a schoolmaster to his time as a soldier, including an account of the memorable defence of Gibraltar in the late eighteenth century. With a glimpse of social life in the Highlands of Scotland between 1770 and 1830.Lacking one plate, with three other plates present. In the publisher's original blue cloth binding. Externally, smart, with light rubbing to the extremities and a touch of bumping to the head and tail of the spine. The occasional mark to boards. Light offsetting to endpapers, with an ink inscription to the front endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Lacking one plate. Very Good. book.
