Lithography on chine collé, 22 x 27 cm. In good condition, a small fold in the right bottom corner, hardly visible. Aelbertsberg is a Buitenplaats on Kennemerweg in Bloemendaal, near Krullenlaan. Folio sized collection of lithographic plates by the Dutch artist Lutgers of prominent houses in the area surrounding the town of Utrecht. This copy contains 87 such plates in cream and black, each with a title, Lutgers name and printers name below. Contains [8], xviii pp, 87 pages of plates; includes dedication page, title page, 18 page description and plates. This copy though complete has front board detached and with it are some of the prelims. Bound in 1/2 sheep? over decorative floral papered boards, spine gone, title page is quite foxed, spotty foxing seen in the margins of ~1/2 of the plates, many with none. A scarce volume with no copies found in the United States. Plates are quite charming and give the viewer a sense of life among wealthy Dutch families of the period. Bound as a text block, boards detached, spine gone. A heavy volume, extra shipping will apply.

Groot 4º, 20 p. tekst en 90 litho's. Half groen marokijn met goudopdruk. Mooi exemplaar. Lit: Van der Meulen p.148 (noemt Buffa & Zonen Amsterdam en Wed. Loosjes Haarlem als uitgevers) Na de serie litho?s van de Vechtstreek (1836) publiceerde Lutgers tussen 1837 en 1844 opnieuw een dergelijke serie afbeeldingen van voornamelijk landhuizen en buitenplaatsen, nu uit de regio Haarlem. In 1855 zouden de omstreken van ?s Gravenhage en Leiden volgen en in 1869 de omstreken van Utrecht. De Haarlemse prenten, elk ca 19x25 cm, zijn linksonder gesigneerd ?P.J. Lutgens? en rechtsonder ?Steendr. van H.J. Backer? of ?Steend. v. Desguerrois en Co.? Middenonder de titel van de prent. De afdrukken zijn op ?chine appliquée?, d.w.z. op zeer dun chinees papier dat op zwaardere bladen is geplakt. De kwaliteit van de prenten is daardoor zeer hoog. Behalve Haarlemse buitenplaatsen werden ook die in Heemskerk, Beverwijk, Velsen, Bloemendaal, Heemstede, Zandvoort, Vogelenzang, Bennebroek en Hillegom afgebeeld.
