Lakeside Classics number 64. 395pp. Duodecimo [17.5 cm] Blue cloth with the title gilt stamped on the spine. Glassine jacket present. Near fine. Laura Judd was the wife of Gerrit P. Judd, a missionary doctor to the Hawaiian Islands. Dr. Judd soon became a confidential advisors to some important political figures, white and native, at a critical period in Island history. His keen wife used their experience and documents to create an insightful autobiography. Written between 1860 and 1862, the work was not published until 1880 in New York through Anson D.F. Randolph & Co. under the title of 'Honolulu Sketches of Life Social, Political and Religious, in the Hawaiian Islands from 1828 to 1861." It was reprinted in 1928 by the 'Honolulu Star Bulletin.' Saunders 54.
