Covers are edgeworn; spine lettering is dulled; inner pages are browned, cracked hinges, faded spine ,wear and soil. This is the story of the world's first merchant submarine, the Deutschland, built by the Germans and sailed in secret. 247 pages; approx. 5"x8".

All pages are toned and page edges and margins show previous bookworm damage. Upper corner of half-title page ripped off but is still held within the pages. 1.5cm closed tear to fore-edge of title page.

Hardcover. Condición: very good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: very good. First edition. König was a captain in the German merchant navy. In 1916 during World War I, he became a reserve Kapitänleutnant in the Imperial German Navy. Later in 1916, König became commanding officer of the merchant submarine Deutschland. He took it on two voyages to the United States for commercial purposes. This is the only authentic account of the first merchant submarine's voyage from Bremen to Baltimore and return. In remarkable condition for it's age. Dust-jacket still present has a few chips, closed tears and soiling to the back panel. First edition. 5¼" - 7¾". book.
