Hardcover. Condición: VG+ for age. No Jacket. Various uncredited Ilustrador. 2nd Edition. Bindings either brown boards with gilt-lettered paneled leather spines (6 vols),these all have red-speckled text-block edgesor red texture cloth with double gilt lines across corners and beside spines with gilt-lettered paneled cloth spines (5 vols), spines of these moderately sun-faded, all in VG - Fine condition being clean and unworn bar one with small nick to top spine, leather spines black along cover edges but faded to brown on spines themselves with ends typically faded slightly further, viewed as a row they appear to be virtually uniform. Each vol. has numerous colour plates inc. f/pieces with tissue guards with some variation in how these are distributed, Vol.4 of Monkeys has unfolding map, I also note that Vol.1 of Monkeys has Errata sheet before Preface regarding invalidity of the 'Hattock' iPlate (VIII) due unavailability of specimen in UK, this however seems redundant for this edition as already omitted. Inoffensive small original ownership signature stamp 'C. Vardon' to 4 front end-papers, 1 has written wig. by same owner, 1 of the 5 actually has both. Full bibliographic and minor fault details, if any, details for individual volumes available on request from serious potential customers. The illustrators are not credited but all printed by Wymans & Sons, London. A very good set of the majority of volumes in this highly regarded series some of which are very scarce. 1st ed. published 1895. Additional postage for non-UK customers likely to be substantial. 13 cm x 18.5 cm Shelf length 33 cm.
