Libro
Hardcover. Condición: Good. Hardcover. Black cloth with gold lettering - the standard government binding for memorial volumes. 911 pages. The Official (and still quite moving) collection of speeches in Congress in memory of President Kennedy, published just months after his death. This copy tight and sturdy, with some dustiness to the cover and foreedges. Ownership name on front endpaper, "Richard Andrews". Inscription on the next blank page, which is the back of the portrait, by Ted Kennedy, "To Richard Andrews , Best Wishes, Ted Kennedy, Jun 1975." A very conscientious handler might notice a faint musty smell to the book, but many might not have thought of that if I hadn't mentioned it here. Please email with questions or to request photos.

Hardcover. Condición: Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Fine. 1st Edition. First Printing. Signed boldly by the author directly to the front endpage and warmly inscribed "To Joy Kritzer/With all good wishes". A very scarce signed copy thus, from the esteemed modern first collection of Ms. Kritzer. The book itself is unread and is absolutely fine. The dust jacket - which is now protected by a removable Brodart archival cover - is also fine, but for perhaps the slightest bit of rubbing/toning at the edges. A beautiful collectible copy. Gold colored metal frame has a hinge stand and also a ring at the top for hanging. This is a picture of a youthful Senator Kennedy, perhaps from the 1960s although this item is undated. Black and white publicity photograph of a young Edward Kennedy - dark suit and short hair The younger brother of President John F. Kennedy and the youngest son of Ambassador Joseph Kennedy, EDWARD "Teddy" KENNEDY (1932-2009) was first elected to the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts in 1962 to fill the seat vacated by his brother the President- serving until his death. Maturing from "kid brother" of the President into a national spokesman for liberal causes, he challenged incumbent President Jimmy Carter for the Democratic nomination in 1980, but fell short. Beset by personal tragedies, some of his own making, Ted Kennedy remained an eloquent and important voice in the Senate and in his party. Edward Moore "Ted" Kennedy (February 22, 1932 - August 25, 2009) was an American politician and lawyer who served as a U.S. Senator from Massachusetts for almost 47 years, from 1962 until his death in 2009. A member of the Democratic Party and the Kennedy political family, he was the second most senior member of the Senate when he died and is the fourth-longest-continuously-serving senator in United States history. Kennedy was the younger brother of President John F. Kennedy and U.S. Attorney General and U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and was the father of Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy. After attending Harvard University and receiving his law degree from the University of Virginia, he began his career as an assistant district attorney in Suffolk County, Massachusetts. Kennedy was 30 years old when he first entered the Senate following a November 1962 special election in Massachusetts to fill the vacant seat previously held by his brother John, who had taken office as the president. He was elected to a full six-year term in 1964 and was later re-elected seven more times. Kennedy was known for his oratorical skills. His 1968 eulogy for his brother Robert and his 1980 rallying cry for modern American liberalism were among his best-known speeches. He became recognized as "The Lion of the Senate" through his long tenure and influence. Kennedy and his staff wrote more than 300 bills that were enacted into law. Unabashedly liberal, Kennedy championed an interventionist government that emphasized economic and social justice, but he was also known for working with Republicans to find compromises. Kennedy played a major role in passing many laws, including the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, the National Cancer Act of 1971, the COBRA health insurance provision, the Comprehensive Anti-Apartheid Act of 1986, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the Ryan White AIDS Care Act, the Civil Rights Act of 1991, the Mental Health Parity Act, the S-CHIP children's health program, the No Child Left Behind Act, and the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act. During the 2000s, he led several unsuccessful immigration reform efforts. Over the course of his Senate career, Kennedy made efforts to enact universal health care, which he called the "cause of my life." By the later years of his life, Kennedy had come to be viewed as a major figure and spokesman for American progressivism. He died on August 25, 2009, of a malignant brain tumor at his home in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, and was buried near his brothers John and Robert at Arlington National Cemetery. Presumed one of a multiple original produced.

Handsomely bound in finely woven rose-colored cloth stamped brightly in gold on the front boards and on the spine. Virtually as new, internally fine and clean and tight throughout, printed on heavy white stock. This is an uncommon volume published especially "For the great grandchildren of Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy, and for the generation of the family to come." With a beautiful color photograph of Rose Kennedy on the frontispiece page., and illustrated with numerous photographs throughout. Ted Kennedy has inscribed the book on the full front endpaper in blue flair ink to a treasured family friend: "To Mary Ann, Thanks so much for being a part of mother s book. We miss her greatly and always will. With affection. Ted/ 22 July 97."Quite uncommon, especially inscribed thus by Teddy Kennedy. Rose Elizabeth Fitzgerald Kennedy, Countess Kennedy (July 22, 1890 January 22, 1995) was an American philanthropist, socialite, and the matriarch of the Kennedy family. She was deeply embedded in the "lace curtain" Irish Catholic community in Boston, where her father was mayor. She was the wife of businessman and investor Joseph P. Kennedy Sr., who was United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom, formally known as Ambassador to the Court of St. James's in the UK. Their nine children included President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and longtime Senator Ted Kennedy. In 1951 she was ennobled by Pope Pius XII, becoming the sixth American woman to be granted the rank ofPapal countess. Rose Kennedy was a strict Catholic[5]throughout her life. Even after her 100th birthday, she rarely missed Sunday Mass and maintained an "extremely prudish" exterior. Her strict beliefs often placed her at odds with her children.[6] Jacqueline Kennedy described her mother-in-law in her correspondence to Father Joseph Leonard, an Irish priest: "I don't think Jack's mother is too bright and she would rather say a rosary than read a book." Rose Kennedy stated that she felt completely fulfilled as a full-time homemaker. In her 1974 autobiography, Times to Remember, she wrote, "I looked on child rearing not only as a work of love and a duty, but as a profession that was fully as interesting and challenging as any honorable profession in the world and one that demanded the best I could bring to it. What greater aspiration and challenge are there for a mother than the hope of raising a great son or daughter?" (Wikipedia0 Printed for Private Distribution. Unspecified number of copies printed.
