Hardback. Condición: Good. Dust Jacket Included. 1st Edition. In this book Jules Romains has reverted to his early interest in abnormal and semi-occult experiences. It ranks less with "Men of Good Will" than with his early trilogy, "Psyche" which was translated, many years ago, by John Rodker in a single volume "The Body's Rapture" But though the two stories here printed deal with the penumbra of human conciousness, Romains has given them in the main stream of "realistic" fiction. He treats the marvellous occurrences which form their "subject" with a firmness, a documentation, a visual sharpness, which one thinks to find more naturally in stories of detection. To his theorizing about other worlds he has brought something of the skill which belongs with the unravelling of crime. The creator of Quinette joins hands here with the man who has always been curious of strange manifestations and unconventional scientific day-dreams. Book in good condition. Some foxing on endpapers otherwise clean and tight copy. Rough cut page edges (on bottom ), top page edges in red,243pp Blue Dust.Jacket with black lettering on front and spine, repair on spines. Back cover lists other Sidgwick and Jackson titles, otherwise acceptable condition, price unclipped. First published in this translation 1952 by Sidgwick & Jackson Book#102268.
